Dell has finished its acquisition of Force10 Networks, California-based data centre networking firm. Under the agreement, Dell hopes to expand its networking portfolio to expand its virtual network infrastructure services. Dell says that the transaction will bring added benefits in the second half of next year, but did not disclose the value of the deal.
Dell, which has earlier acquired EqualLogic and Compellent, said the new agreement is its first move into network equipment. Dell stated, the addition of Force10 technology will let users to transform the network infrastructure in a data center open and scalable computing cloud fabric.
The mix of Force10 and the current portfolio of Dell PowerConnect, the company plans to provide an effective strategy for changing the data center, enterprise and branch/campus environments. Force10 Dell offers applications designed to revitalize and automation of conventional data centers and network cloud. Force10 technology fits well with the strategy of Dell's existing data center and your server, storage and systems management portfolio.
Force10 customers include Web 2.0 and Fortune 100 companies, Internet portals, global companies, research laboratories and government organizations. As part of the group's proposition to expand its presence in the company, Dell also said it expects to appoint several hundred new employees in engineering, marketing and sales for Force10 support growth, which will be headquartered in Silicon Valley R & D Center.
