Cisco, US networking giant announced that it has purchased Versly, a firm that makes collaboration devices for Microsoft's renowned Office software. Financial situations of the acquisition were not revealed yet.
Software made by the San Francisco-located Versly enables for collaboration on content in Office programs such as Excel, Powerpoint as well as Word. Cisco said the acquirement of the privately owned Versly will allow it to offer advanced collaboration solutions to consumers.
Cisco's Collaboration Software Groups Murali Sitaram, vice president and general manager thought in a statement that they are enhancing the collaboration assistance and improving the consumer experience by combining social technologies in the business applications for those and teams used at work.
The assimilation with Versly will develop efficiency improvements for firms and their knowledge employees, many of whom are amongst the 600 million users of Microsoft Office, said Sitaram.Cisco assumed that Versly software will be included into products like Cisco Quad, Cisco WebEx and Cisco Jabber.
Versly was established by Benjamin Renaud, previously of Sun, and ex- Yahoo! executive Erik Eccles also has received economic support from Accel Partners, 500 Startups and Baseline Ventures.
